Missy the Domestic Diva: A Chicken With a Job
by Samantha Laux
Portraits by David Fitzsimmons Photography
Illustrated by Ruth Rudawski

This is the story of a chicken who grows up to become a greeter at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary. Once a month Missy the chicken goes around to different preschools to teach children about birds. The end of the book has a nice photo montage of Missy playing with the children.

This book was read on the Bookemon website. Because of that I will only be reviewing the story and illustrations. Samantha Laux is a new author and has several books up on Bookemon.

Story: 3
The story was a non-fiction tale about a chicken that grows up to become a greeter at a bird sanctuary. I give is only a three because I feel there could have been more substance to the story. Reading through the story I felt as if I was reading a timeline of events rather than a story. I think this author has talent and just needs to explore her creative side a little more.

Illustrations: 3
The illustrations varied from page to page. Some of them were wonderful while others seemed rushed. I think the illustrator has some real talent but just needs to take more time on some of the drawings. That way they will be more consistent in quality. There are also photographs in the book.

The Overall Ahgoo Review rating is: 3

I would highly recommend reading Samantha’s other books. They can be found at the below links.
