The Kit Kat Caper
by Susan Ross
illustrated by Megan Stiver
Story: 5
This is an awesome autobiographical story. I don’t want to spoil any surprises here so I am going to very vague about certain things. It’s Halloween and a little witch is on the hunt for kit kats. The witch is very very rude when she doesn’t get a kit kat but is as sweet as can be when she does. On top of being a great story there is also a great lesson here of what not to do when begging for treats on Halloween. This story has such a fun twist that children are going to laugh out loud. The hints and clues that are placed throughout the story are great for engaging the listener to be a part of the fun. The book has an amazing read aloud factor and should be read to all children. It’s also a great gift to buy for the approaching Halloween. It’s closer than you think!

Megan Stiver amazed me with her art in The Rose and the Lily and she did not disappoint me here. Her art is beautiful and detailed and doesn’t lack in any category. The color combination is so good I could almost smell autumn. The rich oranges and deep blues are representative of every October that I can remember. The memory trigger was immense on every page starting with the clouds in the sky and extending to the remaining leaves on the trees.
This book can be purchased below. I hope you add it to your collection as it is a wonderful book. In the back there is a poem and a craft project. The project is on how to make spiders and it will be a fun thing to do once the book has been read. I love the interactivity provided. This book has it all.
