Family Matters
Weiner Family Studios

This app is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch on iTunes.  What first drew me to the app were the graphics. They are digital and look 3D. They are very welcoming but the graphics are only the beginning.

I am not a fan of board games, I never really have been. What I did like to do was pick up the card decks in Trivial Pursuit or games like it and read the questions to my sister. We would sit there ignoring the board game and focusing on the questions. This app reminded me of that except high-tech and more personal.

There are six categories, General, Restaurant, Road Trip, Dr. Office, Airport and In A Line. Each of the categories are fully customizable and allow for deeper personalization of the app. There are questions already built into the app that allow for great conversation starters and ways to draw kids and parents out of their shells. This app is great because everyone gets a turn and everyone feels important. When a child is able to use their voice to explain good friend qualities or something silly like coming up with a new name for ears.

Here are Key Features of the app:

This app was selected by Apple for their “What’s Hot” list for 2 weeks in a row and made it to #2 most popular travel app. While this isn’t exclusive to travel it has become popular in the category.

The app was not created to make money. It was built to help families. That being said WFS has donated proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities and to Haiti and Chile after disasters there.

If you have an iPhone or iPod touch I would recommend this app. If you are going on a road trip definitely get the app. You’ll be able to learn things about each other that you wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. You’ll also start thinking up other questions to add to learn more and more about each other creating a more solid and open relationship within your family.
