While browsing the latest news stories that discuss early literacy I came across this story in the Athens Banner-Herald:
Two international nonprofits focusing on childhoold literacy — the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy and Jumpstart — are asking Athens area residents to participate in the Read for the Record on Thursday.
To help call attention to the crisis in early childhood education, Ferst and Jumpstart are trying to organize the largest shared reading experience in history by having everyone read “Llama Llama Red Pajama” in homes and communities across the country and around the globe. Books are available at retailers like Barnes & Noble and Kohl’s.
For more information visit www.jstart.org or e-mail info@ferstfoundation.org. (Source: Online Athens)
Luckily, you don’t have to be a Georgia resident to participate in this initiative. Visit the link below to purchase “Llama Llama Red Pajama” and Read for the Record.
